Ahmad Al-Issa, the minister of education, stressed that the ministry would continue to correct misconceptions and deviant ideas through a number of programs, including “fatin” which is now active across all educational institutions.

The minister, who was speaking to reporters following his opening of a career week at King Saud University (KSU), was responding to questions on poisoned ideas and news spread by social media which targets youth.

The minister said that Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman is the key supporter of education at all levels, adding that “we always listen attentively to his directives because he is keen on developing education and serve our sons and daughters.”

The minister affirmed that the king has devoted a considerable part of his time in serving the youth, being mindful that the youth are the cornerstones of the present and the pillars of the future.

“Equipping our youths with science and knowledge means the building of the nation,” the minister said.

Referring to the career week event, the minister said that it is important, especially with the growing number of government and private universities and the introduction of specializations as required by the labor market.

In this context, he called for the creation of new methods for organizing such events by harnessing the latest technologies to provide information related to employment, job opportunities and job seeking techniques.

For his part, Badran Al-Omar, the rector of King Saud University, said that the university is aware of the dimensions of the problem of unemployment and its social, economic and security repercussions.

He said that the universities bear a significant responsibility in minimizing the spread of this phenomenon by guiding students to specialties required by the labor market.
