The Ministry of Education (MoE) has come up with a program that establishes an advisory center for the protection of children from suspicious affiliations.

“Saudi society as a whole stands united to protect children in partnership with the ministry,” Abdulrahman Al-Barrak, MoE undersecretary, said during a press conference recently.

Al-Barrak, who’s also the chairman of the technical committee on the national prevention program, said the program ensures security, social and cultural well-being, health and prosperity for children.

It will be implemented, he said, in collaboration with relevant institutions such as the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Ministry of Interior, General Presidency of Youth Welfare and universities.

Al-Barrak said the program seeks to achieve its aims by targeting universities and families, building relationships with relevant institutions and establishing contact with everyone through websites and other means of communications.

“The program will also provide material and moral support to various sources through partnerships with the private sector as well as access for others like endowments to ensure its sustainability,” he said.

He said some of the problems the program seeks to solve are crises in identity, self-confidence and sense of belonging as well as the lack of personal and social skills.

“There’s also the problem of confronting threats to security,” he said, adding that all measures will be implemented in rehabilitation and training to strengthen the capabilities of administrators, experts and trainers.

He said the program will aim to strengthen identity and the students themselves through the acquisition of personal and social skills.

The program will apply quality systems in training and education and supply the community with materials of cultural variety for the development of thoughts and behavior, besides contributing to the construction and development of thinking and skills and research to meet the challenges of the future, he said.
