The Saudi Control and Investigation Board (CIB) has detected violations of rules and regulations in 903 schools in the provinces and cities across the Kingdom.

“The violations include hiring of non-Saudi teachers and foreigners holding administrative posts,” the CIB said in a report.

It said there was shortage of school staff, insufficient number of courses and lack of bags for students, besides many unused school supplies purchased earlier in the past. The CIB also found a shortage of classrooms in some regions and overcrowding.

“Some of the classrooms were not suitable for learning purpose because they were in urgent need of repairs,” the report said.

Many schools do not have sufficient furniture for students and teachers, it said.

It also found books in the schools still carrying the old logo of the Ministry of Education despite an earlier directive on using the new one.

It said the schools were using the supplies bearing the old logo to cut costs in educational material.
