Coming together with patriotic fervor, 11 universities from across the Kingdom took part in the first women’s symposium on community-based initiatives for Saudi universities and their role in promoting patriotism to strengthen unity and integrity.

The universities took part in the forum organized by Saudi Electronic University (SEU) here at the King Salman Conference Hall of the Ministry of Education on Tuesday to support the national loyalty campaign and promote national belonging as universities are an essential part of the fabric of all nations, imparting the wisdom of past generations to the leaders of the future.

Speaking on the occasion, SEC Rector Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Mousa offered sincere congratulations to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif for the recent observation of National Day.

He underlined that universities, besides functioning for academic excellence, also highlight the efforts and work toward the promotion of national identity as a university truly stands for humanism, tolerance, reason, the adventure of ideas and the search of truth to contribute in the onward march of the human race toward ever-higher objectives.

Mousa also urged everyone to attend such an important occasion to strengthen the sense of national belonging to members of the homeland, and keep themselves away from any kind of destructive ideas.

Princess Nora bint Mohammed bin Saud said: “We are proud of our national love of the Kingdom; it has given us so much happiness. We will not forget its virtues as long as we live. It is our duty to respond to this love with loyalty and ideas to enrich the present and open new horizons for the future.”

“It’s a pleasure to gather here and work toward strengthening the national affiliation with such community initiatives of our students and their devotion with real unconditional love for the homeland,” she said.

“With such initiatives to promote unity and integrity, we look forward to learn more about university initiatives and discuss existing ideas, and put forward our aspirations and hopes,” she said thanking the Ministry of Education for organizing this meeting.

Princess Al-Jawhara bint Fahd Al-Saud, former rector of Princess Nora bint Abdulrahman University, stressed on belonging to the homeland, and maintenance and preservation of Islamic values.

She said the university has a key role in shaping, supporting and raising capabilities, and strengthening belonging to the country with a positive impact on students, because youth is considered the real wealth for a nation to achieve scientific and technical progress in the light of global variables, which dominates the world stage today.

She further highlighted the importance of belonging to the homeland as the backbone of national and social security, without which society loses its cohesion, which threatens national security.
