A large number of Indian community members turned up with their families at a lavish iftar party hosted by the Riyadh chapter of the Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association (AMUOBA).

The AMUOBA iftar party was also a farewell evening from AMU alumnus to senior colleague Haneef Tarin, a Riyadh-based popular Indian doctor-cum poet who is going back to India after completing his service of three decades with the Health Ministry.

Following brief speeches on the significance of Ramadan, the AMUOBA office bearers presented a memento to Tarin for carrying forward the mission of AMU founder Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.

In his welcome address, AMUOBA president Mohammed Ahmed Badshah shared the achievements of Tarin during his service tenure and his works, which include authoring dozens of books.

Naseem Akhtar, vice president of AMUOBA, presented a vote of thanks, while Taqiuddin Mir, general-secretary, moderated the program.

A large number of AMUOBA members, members of other social organizations in Riyadh and Indian embassy officials attended the program.
