Riyadh Gov. Prince Turki bin Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz discussed critical environmental issues with the Southern Riyadh Committee at his office at Qasr Al-Hokm on Tuesday, according to the Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA).

Prince Turki bin Abdullah was briefed about the projects currently being undertaken by the Riyadh Municipality.

Ongoing urgent measures, which are being carried out at 12 sites, were taken up during the meeting. The urgent measures were set out in a decision taken by the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh (HCDA).

The projects include treatment of gas emissions and fluids resulting from existing and closed landfills, rehabilitation of a construction waste dump location in the Al-Qhannamiya area and closure of facilities posing a negative environmental impact on the region.

The Saudi Industrial Property Authority (MODON) also discussed its project, which includes rehabilitating the industrial pool overlooking Wadi Al-Sulay, improving capacity and quality and reusing the industrial waste water treatment station.

The meeting also discussed the work being carried out by the National Water Company (NWC), which includes improving capacity, quality and reuse of the waste water treatment stations of Manfouhah, completing sewerage network extension projects in the region and treating mud resulting from the sewage treatment stations.

Price Turki stressed the importance of completing the projects within the set schedule and reiterated the necessity of maintaining cooperation among authorities and utilizing modern means to achieve the objective.

The meeting was attended by a member from the ADA, secretary of Riyadh Municipal Services, the assistant secretary of the Riyadh Municipality’s Development Affairs and the CEOs of MODON and the NWC.
