The licensing department of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) recently concluded preparations for the summer season and developed a plan to step up monitoring of the accommodation sector such as hotels, resorts and furnished apartments through deploying inspection teams in its branches across the country, according to Ahmed Al-Eisa, assistant vice president of SCTA for licensing.

Al-Eisa said that the SCTA has intensified its preparations ahead of the summer vacation which witnesses a heavy turnout of visitors looking for accommodation facilities and that the monitoring efforts will continue round the year, he added.

“The SCTA’s monitoring teams in different parts of the Kingdom will step up their inspection visits to accommodation facilities according to a prepared program in order to ensure that the facilities are in compliance with service prices, show the price list, operation licenses, classification degrees and complaint boxes at the reception or main hall for easy visibility for the customer,” he said.

Al-Eisa called on citizens and residents to report any violation of these conditions via the toll-free number (19988) of the tourism communication center, or by submitting a direct complaint to the nearest branch of SCTA in case of an increase in service price above the allowed limit which is 50 percent for furnished apartments and 30 percent for hotels, or in case the facility fails to show the price list approved by the SCTA.
