Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman has highlighted the historic Saudi-Indian relations and commended the contribution of Indian expatriate workers to the Kingdom’s development.

The governor made this comment while receiving an Indian delegation led by A.P. Abubacker Musliyar, general secretary of All-India Muslim Association, said Shaikh Mohammed Rafik, chairman of Gammon Group.

Speaking with Arab News, Rafik said Prince Faisal also emphasized the Saudi government’s efforts in the service of the millions of pilgrims who come for Haj and Umrah and expansion of the two holy mosques.

“Prince Faisal noted that Indian workers were the greatest beneficiaries of the amnesty declared by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah for foreigners to correct their legal status,” Rafik said.

Apart from Abubacker Musliyar and Rafik, the delegation included Bashirali Shihab Thangal of the Muslim League in Kerala, Sheikh Mohammed Salem Al-Hunaini and Sulaiman Salem Al-Hunaini.

Abubacker Musliyar thanked Saudi Arabia for its support to Muslims in India and other parts of the world while Rafik thanked Prince Faisal for receiving the delegation and extending his support for Indian workers.

“It was a friendly and fruitful meeting that reflected the growing relations between Saudi Arabia and India,” the Gammon chairman said.
