Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to establish a higher joint committee to implement the strategic visions of the leaders of both countries. The committee will be chaired by the foreign ministers of the two countries.

State news agency WAM said that the committee is formed to reach wider and stable avenues in the face of the regional challenges, as part of a strong and solid entity in the service of the well-being of the two fraternal peoples and in support of the joint GCC action.

The decision came after a meeting between General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of UAE Armed Forces with Prince Saud Al-Faisal, foreign minister of Saudi Arabia.

Prince Saud Al-Faisal is currently touring the UAE with Saudi Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Naif and Minister of State Dr. Musaed Al-Aiban.

In a meeting, the two sides discussed all aspects of cooperation and the latest regional developments.

Prince Saud Al-Faisal conveyed greetings from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, wishing him good health. He also conveyed a message to Sheikh Khalifa from King Abdullah on the strengthening of the strategic relations between the two countries at all levels.
