Sheikh Sultan criticizes Qatar for barring Hajj pilgrims from visiting Mecca

Qatar’s Sheikh Sultan bin Suhaim al-Thani became one of the first to publicly oppose from the current ruling family led by Emir Tamim.

:: A royal family member who is opposed to the current regime in Doha has criticized Qatar for barring Hajj pilgrims from being able to visit Mecca for a second year in a row.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia recently opened a website dedicated specifically for Qatari pilgrims who wish to register their data and arrange their requirements for Hajj directly after the failure of Qatar’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in cooperating with concerned Saudi authorities in this regard to finalize measures.

“While Muslims from all parts of the world come to the House of God and while the kingdom opens its heart before its borders to hundreds of thousands of pilgrims… the Qatari regime prevents its citizens from going on pilgrimage for the second year. The sin of the Qataris are on the necks of those who do not have religion and deceit will deter them,” Sheikh Sultan bin Suhaim tweeted on Saturday.

Bin Suhaim became one of the first to publicly oppose the current ruling family and regime ruled by Emir Tamim bin Hamad when several countries decided to sever ties with Qatar over its support and financing of terrorist groups and interfering in the internal affairs of neighboring countries.

He is the son of Sheikh Suhaim bin Hamad bin Abdullah al-Thani, who was a member of the ruling family of Qatar and served as the country’s first foreign minister.

“All of those whom I knew from the Qataris who performed the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages against the dictates of the regime said they found nothing but welcoming gestures since they came to the land of the Kingdom [Saudi Arabia]… And the traitors of the nations, the destroyers of the countries, have punished those who performed the obligatory pilgrimage and returned safely. History will judge you,” he said.
