Tenth Plan aims at one million housing units

The Tenth Development Plan (TDP) aims to create more than one million housing units and spend SR444 billion on health and social services, according to a report.

The Ministry of Housing will provide 300 million sq. meters of land for 300,000 houses in various regions of the Kingdom while the Real Estate Fund will finance 250,000 housing units and provide 20,000 loans for investment.

Among the projects under the Plan is the opening of general and specialized hospitals with 15,000 beds and the construction of general and specialized hospitals. Construction of new public and private hospitals with 11,500 beds and replacing hospitals with 1,956 beds.

The Plan also includes the opening of 750,000 primary health care centers (PHCs), in addition to 86 reference centers with integrated primary health care PHC services.

Also included are the construction buildings for over 30,200 schools to absorb 5.5 million students, opening of 97 technical college for girls and the establishment of six universities.

The Plan has allocated SR1,199 billion for the development of human resources, that is on education, training and science and technology.

Toward education, the Plan seeks to reach a number of facilities in the primary, intermediate and secondary education to about 30,200 schools to accommodate about 5,500,000 students.

It also seeks to increase the number of students in kindergartens to 396,600 children and the capacity of universities and colleges to more than one million students and the number of graduates to more than 799,000.

The Plan also provides for the opening of 68 new technical colleges for boys and 97 for girls, bringing the capacity of college for boys to 200,000 students.

On human resources, about SR1,199 million has been allocated for education, training and science and technology.

The Plan aims to spend SR664 billion on basic development spending, which includes transport, communications, municipal services and housing.
