9 expat CAs forged certificates

SOCPA

Nine people who submitted their job applications with forged certificates as qualified chartered accountants have been booked for inquiry, according to a statement from the Saudi Organization of Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA).

Confirming the report, Ahmed Moghames, secretary-general of SOCPA, said all nine forgers were expatriates who submitted applications for membership of the body.

“The nine forged certificates were from among 2,000 applicants who had sought membership of the SOCPA,” he said, adding that the organization has hired a globally renowned company to scrutinize the validity of the certificates.

“The commission forwarded the documents to the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution to prosecute the counterfeiters, and bring them to justice,” Moghames said, adding that they are foreign workers recruited by companies and the relevant institutions have not confirmed their qualifications.
