The liquor barrels seized and destroyed by Haia authorities in Jeddah on Sunday.

The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Haia) destroyed huge quantities of liquor in a villa in Jeddah on Sunday evening and apprehended three persons in this regard.

“After closely monitoring the movement of numerous vehicles into a villa, we made an inspection and discovered that the residential building had been converted into a factory producing liquor and was run by two African expatriates including a man and a woman with the support of a Saudi citizen. The liquor was then sold to customers,” Abdul Rahman Al-Jabri, spokesperson of Haia told Arab News on Sunday evening.

He said that the commission had seized 50 barrels of liquor, each with a capacity of 250 liters. “This was in addition to 48 bottles of 1.5 liters each ready for distribution,” he said.

Al-Jabri said that the commission will refer the arrested persons to competent authorities for further action.
