IIS-Jubail principal receives Indian national award

International Indian School Jubail’s principal Dr. Syed Hameed receives his National Award for Excellence in Services as a teacher from President of India Sri Pranab Mukherjee.

JUBAIL : Dr. Syed Hameed, the Principal of International Indian School – Jubail (IIS-Juabil), has been awarded with the”Rashtrapathi Puraskar,” a National Award for Excellence in Services as a teacher.

The award was conferred to him in New Delhi by President of India Sri Pranab Mukherjee on the occasion of Teachers’ Day on September 5.

“He has been selected for the coveted award after rigorous scrutiny by the Government of India,” said an official statement from the Human Resources Development (HRD) Ministry.

The awardees were also given a reception by Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi and were felicitated by the HRD minister Smriti Irani.

It is a matter of great pride and honor for the Indian Community in Jubail, which is planning a felicitation for him on Saturday, September 13 at the Jubail’s Intercon hotel.

Hameed joined IIS-Juabil in 2009 as a principal and implemented a number of activities like the Scouts and Guides, regional language teaching, activity based childern centered education, art and aesthetic education, evening coaching in sports and games, Quran memorization in the girls’ section among many others.

A great orator, Hameed also introduced creative writing studies for 10+2 students.

Hameed, a post graduate in English, has also been awarded with KVS Incentive Award in Education(1992) and NCERT National Award for Innovative Experiments KV CRPF Hyderabad (1995).

“It is the real reward for humility and kindness personified. It is a rare recognition of 37 years of your dedicated service to the Indian society,” said Dr. George, who works as a Professor in English with Jubail Industrial College.

IIS-Jubail teachers, students and their parents expressed happiness on the principal’s achievement.

“I am 100% sure this will inspire the 7,000+ students in Jubail to strive for and not settle for anything less than a national award,” said a parent.

When asked about his achievement, Hameed, who is also a trained counselor (NCERT), credited his blessings to Almighty Allah, sacrifices of his family and best wishes of his innocent students and vibrant teachers. He takes pride in the fact that he was working in IIS-Jubail when he was conferred with this prestigious award.
