Healthy sign: Kingdom has a MERS-free day

MERS Free

The Ministry of Health did not submit a report on the daily incidence of the MERS coronavirus on Monday.

“There are no new MERS cases and no deaths today,” said a senior ministry official. According to the official, only two MERS patients, both men aged 48 and 54, were discharged from a government hospital in Riyadh on Monday after making a full recovery. There have been 179 deaths since September 2012.

Acting Health Minister Adel Fakeih adopted several preventive measures to control the spread of the virus.

Besides launching a national Kingdom-wide awareness campaign on the coronavirus in Jeddah earlier this month, Fakeih also appointed officials to handle various offices in combatting the disease.

The minister said the campaign is designed to combat the virus and to empower the public with crucial up-to-date information in order to help prevent the spreading of the disease.
Fakeih appointed Professor Tariq Ahmed Madani as a member of the team at the Health Ministry.
