Gargash: Arab coalition’s action on Aden crisis has prevented strife

“The priority is defeating Houthis and their project,” Gargash said.

:: UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash said on Friday that the Arab coalition’s prudent action on Aden’s crisis avoided strife which is due to absence of wisdom among different parties.

“The priority is defeating the Houthis and their project. Serious Yemeni dialogue is required to deal with issues which have negatively accumulated,” he added on Twitter.

Gargash also said that in addition to putting priorities first, a political initiative is important given the major “cracks in the Houthi rebellion’s stance and legitimacy.”

Fishing in troubled waters

“It’s important to confirm to those who incite strife and fish in troubled waters that the UAE’s stance is a mirror of Saudi Arabia’s orientation as we’re building a strategic partnership that includes Yemen’s crisis and goes beyond it,” he added.

The minister also commented on Arab media and said: “Responsible Arab media does not distort regional stances to defame them but it does so based on its analysis of policies that involved themselves in Arab affairs. Actions must have reactions.”
