French FM: ‘We stress the need to fight terrorist groups’

:: The French Foreign Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, asserted his country’s support to Kuwait’s mediation in Qatar crisis in a statement from Doha on Saturday.

Le Drian said we are convinced that confidence-building measures must be taken. He added that his country stresses the need to fight terrorist groups, reported Al Arabiya.

The French Foreign Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, arrives in Saudi Arabia on Saturday on a Gulf tour that also includes Kuwait, UAE and Qatar to resolve Qatar crisis.

The tour comes after attempts initiated by his counterparts from America, Germany and Britain.

The French Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Minister Le Drian’s two-day tour will come within the framework of France’s efforts to bridge the gap between Qatar and the anti-terrorism countries after their collective stand against Qatar’s support and financing of terrorism.
