Indian doctor abducted by ISIS in Libya rescued

An Indian doctor, who was kidnapped in Libya, has been rescued and is being brought back to India shortly, a news report has revealed quoting a series of tweets sent out by the country’s external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj.
Swaraj said Dr Ramamurthy Kosanam had sustained a bullet injury and is a native of Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, the Times of India report said.
“We have rescued Dr Ramamurthy Kosanam in Libya. Dr Kosanam has suffered a bullet injury. We are bringing him to India shortly. With this, we have rescued all the six Indians abducted there. I appreciate the good work done by our mission there,” Swaraj said.
Dr. Ramamurthy was reportedly abducted by ISIS militants in Libya nearly 18 months back. In another related tweet, Swaraj also asked Indian citizens to register with Madad.gov.in in case of emergency situations.
“I was informed about the stabbing of Mrs. Gopika Shajikumar an Indian national from Kottayam (Kerala). I asked for an immediate report and we have complete details of the unfortunate incident. Gopika has undergone surgery at the Farwaniya hospital. I wish her a speedy recovery,” Swaraj wrote on Twitter.
