Trump vows US will defeat ‘radical Islamic terrorism’

He also vowed to allow into the US people who ‘want to love our country,’ defending his immigration and refugee restrictions.

United States President Donald Trump on Monday pledged that America and its allies would defeat the “forces of death” and keep radical extremists from gaining a foothold on US soil, in his first visit to US Central Command.

“Today we deliver a message in one very unified voice to these forces of death and destruction — America and its allies will defeat you. We will defeat them,” he said at Centcom headquarters at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida.

“We will defeat radical Islamic terrorism. And we will not allow to it take root in our country.”

He also vowed to allow into the US people who “want to love our country,” defending his immigration and refugee restrictions.

Trump reaffirmed his support for NATO before military leaders and troops and laced his speech with references to homeland security amid a court battle over his travel ban on people from seven majority-Muslim countries. He did not directly mention the case now before a federal appeals court after a lower court temporarily suspended the ban.
