Kuwait has said it is prepared to treat those injured escaping the ongoing military operations in Mosul in neighboring Iraq, Kuwait’s General Consul to Erbil Omar al-Kanderi has said.

The Gulf-Arab nation is currently coordinating efforts with their Iraqi counterparts and private hospitals in Mosul to provide finance and support in treating the injured, Kanderi was quoted as saying according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

One wounded Iraqi civilian told KUNA how he was injured in car bomb explosion carried out by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Mazen Ahmad says he survived the attack and is receiving treatment thanks to the finance of Kuwaiti authorities.

Meanwhile, spokesperson of the US-led coalition Colonel John Dorian said they need weeks or months to finalize battles in Mosul.

“Operations are going as planned. Iraqi troops continue to advance and they are heading east. They are restoring control over several neighborhoods despite ISIS’ use of barbaric techniques such as targeting civilians. This is a cowardly tactic but it will not prevent Iraqi forces from progressing,” he said.
