Makkah governor cracks the whip on contractors
Service organizations found delaying projects will be blacklisted and their names will be made public, Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal has said.
“The relevant authority will have to prepare a list of defaulters as well as those who meet the deadlines and other requirements,” he was quoted by local media as saying on Monday.
The organizations which complete the projects on time and meet the standards will be honored, he said.
Prince Khaled, who is also adviser to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, was speaking during a meeting of Makkah Regional Council at the headquarters of the governorate on Sunday.
He directed the council to develop a mechanism to issue reports on the implementation of projects, with a detailed report at the end of every year containing a comprehensive disclosure on the implemented and delayed projects.
The names of the parties implementing and delaying the projects, either individuals, government or private companies, should also be available for the public, he said.
“The governorate and regional council will issue the list under the categories of appreciation and warning,” said Prince Khaled.
The authorities in Makkah were not strict in dealing with negligent parties, but that will change now, he added.
