45 training institutes shut down

The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation

The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) closed down 45 training centers and institutes in different parts of the Kingdom last year.

TVTC’s official spokesman Fahd Al-Otaibi attributed the closedowns to a number of violations, which included offering unauthorized training programs or opening new branches without getting official permits and operating with uncertified trainers, Al-Watan newspaper reported.

Al-Otaibi stressed that the role of the corporation was not limited to granting licenses, but also involved follow-up and monitoring of performance on an ongoing basis through its 24 branches in various parts of the Kingdom.

He said on discovering any defect or violation at the training centers, the corporation would immediately warn the facility of the violation and inform it about penalties stated in the by-law, which determines the punishments, including the cancellation of license, according to the gravity of the violation.

The spokesman said the number of new licenses for training centers and institutions granted last year reached 47. He said the corporation would encourage the private sector to invest in training so that businessmen could contribute to bridging the gap between labor market needs and qualified manpower.

The opening of training facilities is approved when a center applies for a license after complying with all quality standards as well as the rules and regulations stipulated in the corporation’s by-law, Al-Otaibi said.

He said the trainees could double check the legality of the training facilities and the extent of their licenses and also file any complaints or suggestions through the corporation’s website www.tvtc.gov.sa.
