Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) President Prince Sultan bin Salman inaugurated here on Sunday the fourth edition of the Colors of Saudi Arabia forum, the largest event in the Kingdom for photography and short films in tourism, culture and heritage.

Organized by the SCTNH in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Information and other partners, the forum will continue at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center (RICEC) till Dec. 19.

Prince Sultan also awarded winners of the photography and short films contest, where photographers from different parts of the Kingdom participated highlighting domestic tourism and cultural heritage.

Prince Sultan commended the forum’s partners for the huge success over the years saying these valuable cooperation has resulted in a number of programs and activities which helped in public awareness among people to respect national heritage.

The annual forum is also hosting a national exhibition for photography, where it has dedicated a special pavilion on late Prince Saud Al-Faisal, who enjoyed the distinction of being the longest-serving foreign minister in the world (1975-2015), showcasing his selective photos and memories with focus on various aspects of the glorious life.

Moreover, there is a pavilion on Prince Sultan and his career in aeronautics and tourism.

The forum, which is organized to encourage and honor both professional and amateur photographers in an attempt to shed light on the Kingdom’s tourism, heritage and natural sites, rich and diverse society and urban progress, includes a number of public and private bodies as participants. There are several pavilions displaying photographs from different regions of the Kingdom.

Moreover, a pavilion has also been set aside for international participants including a number of specialists from the United States, Britain, France and the Gulf region and diplomats and embassies of friendly countries that will participate with their photos on the Kingdom.

Identifying the cultural dimensions of the Kingdom and what is intrinsic to it in the form of cultural heritage and natural ingredients is the prime objective of the forum, the first of its kind in the Middle East.

New elements introduced for this fourth edition include “Saudi Arabia Through the Global Eyes” giving an opportunity to GCC citizens and international residents to participate in the creation of a creative tourism library in the Kingdom through their observations that are documented in photos, and “Smartphones Photography Contest” as a development on imaging technology in mobile phones including photography hobbyists and professional photographers.
