Yemen president vows to prevent Iranian interference, thanks Saudi

Yemen’s President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi has vowed to continue the ‘battle toward victory.. enforce law and order, stop Houthis and prevent Iranian interference from achieving its objectives.’

Hadi said in a speech on the 30th anniversary of independence, that Yemenis ‘do not want a state governed by the militias.. nor the rule of families and stories of inheritance.

He called on the U.N. and the international community to protect the Yemeni population from the rebel militias through the enforcement of U.N. Security Council Resolution 2216. And he said he hoped for the success of the efforts of the U.N. Secretary-General Special envoy Ismail Ould Cheikh in the implementation of the resolution, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Hadi also thanked Saudi’s King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud for his support of the Yemeni people in the current situation.

‘From Aden, I send a word of thanks, pride and gratitude on behalf of the Yemeni people to all the truthful free brothers, who shared with us worry and fate by standing with us in our plight, led by my brother the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Kingdom’s government and people who are truthful and generous with their blood and their potentials,’ Yemeni President said in a speech on the occasion of the anniversary of the independence of his country.

President Hadi also thanked the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Arab leaders of coalition countries for their response to his appeal for help, describing it as ‘heroic and honest stance which was a great historic turning point in the march of Arab solidarity.’

The Yemeni president paid tribute to those who have died in Operation Decisive Storm from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Sudan and the Yemeni population.
