Indian body seeks ties with NGOs

An Indian Islamic scholar who is currently in the Kingdom on an invitation from the Alwaleed Philanthropies said that his organization wants to develop cultural cooperation with NGOs in the Kingdom.

Sheikh Aboobacker Ahmed (Kanthapuram Abubaker Musliyar), secretary-general of the Jamiah Markaz managing committee, said his organization has already signed a cultural cooperation agreement with the King Faisal Foundation and Research Center for exchange of experts between the two organizations.

Being the secretary general of the All-India Board of Islamic Scholars, Sheikh Aboobacker said such cooperation would help the two countries to build strong religious and cultural bonds between people.

He said that his institution is currently in the process of building a Knowledge City in Calicut, which will be completed in 2020 . It includes a law college , Unani Medical College, an international school and professional colleges to provide education from LKG to university level.

He said that investments for the hospital and the housing projects are open for non-resident Indians in the Gulf, who will get attractive returns for their investments.

Besides the institutions in India, the Jamiyah Markaz runs schools in Jeddah and Dubai, he said.

Jamiah Markazu Ssaqafathi Ssunniyya is an Islamic university in Kerala, India, operating since 1978. It has roughly 10,000 students studying Qur’an, Hadith, Fiq’h, Arts, Science and Technology in different institutes. . The Jamiah aims to strengthen the moral character of Muslim society by developing the leadership capacities of Ulema (Islamic scholars) and the Muslim ummah.

Al-Azhar University of Cairo has extended its recognition to courses taught by the Jamiah Markazu Ssaqafati Ssunniyya, Sheikh Aboobacker said.
