Al-Noor Specialist Hospital performed 488 surgical operations for pilgrims during the recent Haj.

The procedures included 23 brain and neurosurgery operations, six procedures related to blood vessels, 192 orthopedic surgeries, 98 general surgeries, twenty-two cosmetic procedures, four otolaryngology surgeries, six thoracic surgeries, three eye surgeries, fifteen maxillofacial surgeries and eight gastrointestinal screening procedures. Hospital Director Dr. Aiman Issam Yamani said that the operations department worked at full capacity during the Haj season: “The hospital allocated seven operating rooms for the morning shift, along with a special room for resuscitation, with six rooms allocated for the evening shift.” All of the medical procedures were successful, he added, thanks to the medical equipment provided by the Kingdom and the high level medical teams operating on all kinds of injuries.

Assistant Hospital Director for Medical Services Dr. Salem bin Jafar Bajaifer said that the outpatient department received 21,014 patients during the Haj season, of which pilgrims accounted for 9,873. “In addition, 1,527 patients were hospitalised, with pilgrims accounting for 777 of these. Approximately 708 pilgrims have already recovered and have been discharged,” he said.

He added that the emergency department also received 7,784 patients of whom pilgrims accounted for 5,189, while the medical laboratory section conducted a total of 154,954 medical tests and radiology sections, and made 15,400 x-rays during the Haj season.

He said that the administration of the hospital is currently working on receiving the performance reports from all the departments in order to asses their positives and negatives so that any issues can be addressed.
