The Dammam chapter of the Indian Engineers Forum (IEF) recently celebrated 48th Annual Engineers Day.

“The say is celebrated every year in India as Engineer’s Day to commemorate the birthday of the legendary engineer, Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya,” said IEF President Shuja Mohammed Sheriff.

The eminent Indian engineer and statesman was born in a remote village of Karnataka, which is now the high-tech state of the country.

Due to his outstanding contribution to society, the government of India conferred Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian honor, on him in 1955.

Sheriff recalled the valuable services rendered by Sir Visvesvaraya and said that every year, engineers inside and outside India pay tributes to him by celebrating the Engineer’s Day.

Abdus Salam, chairman of International Indian School (IISD) Managing Committee, was the chief guest. He applauded the IEF and said: “Such platforms are the need of the hour for professional development. If one aspires to excel in life, he must continue the quest for learning and must keep himself updated with the latest developments in technology.”

M.Z. Nadeem, IEF vice president (public relations), informed the engineers about the activities of forum since its inception and invited them to be part of the team.

Feroze Sulaiman, IEF vice president (membership), was master of ceremony. He urged fellow engineers to join hands and reinforce the platform.

Javed Farooq, IEF vice president (events), proposed a vote of thanks.

IEF is a not-for-profit professional platform for non-resident Indian (NRI) engineers. It has branches in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Yanbu and Jubail.
