A suspect has been arrested for his alleged involvement in shooting at a police patrol, killing a policeman and causing a fire in the vehicle in Riyadh over a week ago. Officer Majid Ayed Al-Ghamdi was in the vehicle that came under gunfire and died of gunshot wounds.

A source told Arab News that the General Intelligence members captured the suspect from a house in Al-Rabwah, Riyadh, after laying siege to the area. It could not be ascertained whether the suspect resisted arrest.

The Riyadh police spokesman had announced earlier that a police patrol came under fire from an unidentified vehicle, killing one of its members, in the south of Riyadh at 7:30 p.m. on May 8.

The police soon launched an investigation and zeroed in on the suspect. Further investigations are on to determine the motive and whether more people were involved in the crime.
