Those requesting water trucks by telephone would pay SR114 and wait for three days, a source at the National Water Company (NWC) in Jeddah was quoted as saying recently.

According to the report in a local publication, the NWC said that distribution of water had resumed in cooperation with the Saline Water Conversion Corporation.

The company was now adhering to its normal schedule after maintenance at desalination plants was completed over the past three days, the NWC said. More than 1.1 million cubic meters of water a day is distributed to Jeddah neighborhoods, it said.

The company said it is communicating with customers via text messages to report the regular supply of water in neighborhoods and there was no need to request for trucks.

The company said that the first phase of the Strategic Storage Program in Jeddah greatly reduced the impact of water shortages during the maintenance period.

However, Salem Al-Juhani, a resident of Bremen neighborhood in Jeddah, said he waited five days for a water truck. He said he contacted the company several times and was told that representatives would contact him.
