King’s vision to implement quality health services to citizens lauded

National Guard Minister Prince Miteb bin Abdullah commended Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman for his role in ensuring quality health care services to citizens.

Prince Miteb was inaugurating the international conference on Emergency Medicine of the Saudi Emergency Medicine Assembly -SEMA-2015- at the King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences in Riyadh.

Welcoming the local and international delegates, the prince said that citizens are enjoying excellent health care services offered by the government. He urged the local and international delegates who were present in large numbers to make the maximum use of the erudite presentations made at various sessions.

He also commended the yeoman services rendered by the National Guard Hospital.

Prof. Abdul Mohsen bin Abdul Aziz Al-Tuwaijri, deputy minister of the National Guard, and Dr. Bandar bin Abdulmohsen Al-Knawy, CEO at National Guard Health Affairs, were also present at the opening ceremony.

The assembly featured a number of interactive workshops, with over 40 presentations on a number of issues, including emergency medicine, and opportunity to network with other professionals in the field.

A number of emergency medicine experts presented their scientific work and shared their unique experiences in this field.

It was pointed out at the conference that last year, the Emergency Department of the National Guard Hospital recorded 216,000 visits. The hospital with a capacity of 123 beds is manned by 32 consultants, 34 general practitioners, 23 pediatricians,63 resident doctors and 600 nurses.

In his speech, Al-Knawy said the National Guard Hospital was the first hospital in the region to introduce a fellowship program in the field of emergency medicine.

It also introduced specialized programs in the field of emergency medicine such as Bachelor of medical services for emergency medicine, pediatric emergency medicine, clinical Toxicology, and diploma in emergency medicine in air medical services.
