Media urged to highlight Jeddah heritage festival

Prince Mishaal bin Majed, governor of Jeddah and chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Jeddah Historical Festival, visited Bashan House, the media and cultural center for the Jeddah Historical Festival on Saturday.

The festival, which kicks off Wednesday, will be covered by more than 150 media outlets over the 10-day event, which will include at least 50 cultural, historical, educational, literary and entrainment events and competitions.

Prince Mishaal was welcomed at the center by Aboud Bashan, dean of the center, Abdul Qadir Bashan, head of the initiative committee, Abdulaziz Alandidjani, director of the media center for the festival, and Abdulaziz Al-Rashed, supervisor of exhibition.

During the visit, the prince was briefed by Alandidjani about the planned activities and coverage of the event by the media .

He explained that the center is equipped with all the facilities including TV channels and radio stations run by journalists, writers, thinkers and photographers. He noted that the center, which will be open to the media, will be a hub for all the information about the events and activities of the festival.

The governor also visited the photo gallery which contains 82 photographs of the history of the Kingdom and is supervised and organized by the Saudi Press Agency.

Prince Misahaal praised the efforts of the festival’s organizing committee, Sheikh Aboud Bashan and others and urged all media personalities, newspapers, TV channels and journalists to highlight the cultural activities and urban development of Jeddah’s historical district.
