Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, has promised the Palestinian government that the Kingdom would support the reconstruction of Gaza.

At a meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah in Riyadh on Monday, the crown prince said that Saudi Arabia was committed to helping the Palestinians speed up the rebuilding process, which was caused by Israel’s unjustified war.

The two sides discussed ways to support Jerusalem, particularly the health and education sectors, and to ensure Palestinians living in the holy city remain in their homes.

Hamdallah thanked the crown prince for the continued support of the Saudi government. He said Saudi political and financial support has helped strengthen the resilience of the Palestinian people, particularly those living in the Gaza Strip.

Hamdallah briefed the crown prince on the latest political and economic developments, including efforts to raise funds for the reconstruction of Gaza.

He said the national consensus government is making every effort to reconstruct Gaza despite limited resources and the failure of most donor countries to meet their commitments.

He said donors must take up their responsibilities toward the people in Gaza who are likely to suffer a very difficult and cold winter.
