Jeddah police have nabbed a gang of burglars that specialized in home thefts. “We have arrested five people in Jeddah from an Arab country, aged 19 to 64, who have committed several thefts in the city,” police announced on Saturday.

“The gang is involved in thefts in villas and apartments, where they stole jewelry and other valuable items,” said Lt. Aati Al-Qureshi, spokesperson of the police force.

He added that the security forces are studying the possibility of the gang’s involvement in similar crimes that have occurred in the city as well as other criminal cases.

Police are investigating each member of this organized criminal gang, and each individual case will be referred to the relevant authorities for prosecution and further action, Al-Qureshi said.

Since the number of such crimes has increased, authorities have formed special investigation teams to contain the menace.
