Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, received Pakistani Ambassador Muhammad Naeem Khan, who is also the assistant secretary-general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Tuesday. They discussed a number of issues facing Pakistani expats in the Kingdom.

“The ambassador requested the crown prince for his support on the acquisition of land for Pakistan community schools in the Kingdom,” said an official statement issued by the Pakistani Embassy after the meeting.

Naeem Khan also requested the Saudi government to pardon Pakistani prisoners, who have been detained for petty crimes, under the amnesty declared by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah on the occasion of Ramadan.

Naeem Khan conveyed Ramadan greetings to the crown prince from the president and the prime minister of Pakistan.

He also expressed his deep gratitude for warm hospitality extended to him during his tenure as ambassador of Pakistan to the Kingdom.

“The high point of my tenure as ambassador was the successful visit of Crown Prince Salman to Pakistan this year,” Naeem Khan said, adding that during the royal visit important decisions were taken. The two governments are now working to implement those decisions.

“During my tenure I focused on strengthening fraternal ties between the two countries and building bridges between the institutions of the two countries, particularly in the field of defense,” the ambassador said.

“The Pakistani community in the Kingdom considers Saudi Arabia as their second home and they always worked toward the development of the Kingdom as their own homeland,” he pointed out.

He thanked the crown prince for his support and the Saudi government for backing his election as the assistant secretary-general of the OIC.

Crown Prince Salman, while acknowledging the greetings of the president and the prime minister of Pakistan, emphasized the strong relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

“Pakistan has a special place in the hearts and minds of Saudis,” he quoted the crown prince as saying.
King Abdullah has given direction to further strengthen relations between the two countries.

With regard to the issue of land for the schools, the crown prince said that the matter would be referred to the Council of Ministers for consideration.

Naeem Khan assumed his new responsibilities as OIC assistant secretary-general on July 1, 2014.
