Violators of organic farming laws to get harsh penalties

Saudi-Organic-Farming

Violators of the organic farming bylaw will be subject to harsh penalties including a prison term and a fine of up to SR1 million, Saad bin Abdullah Khalil, acting secretary-general of the Saudi Organic Farming Association (SOFA), said in a statement to the media.

He noted that in the past, there was no regulatory tool to punish the violators involved in the organic farming activities in the Kingdom. “Now, however, the new penalties will help in the implementation of the regulations and instructions governing the organic farming aspect in cooperation with all parties involved in organizing the organic farming in the country,” said Khalil, adding that the move will establish the credibility of the Kingdom at the local and international levels.

Khalil stressed that the rule and its executive list will support farmers and practitioners of organic farming activities.
