Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh has urged all Saudis to join the Kingdom’s efforts to safeguard its security and stability. “The security of Saudi Arabia, being the nation of Islam, is very important and we have to protect it,” the mufti said in a message to the nation on the occasion of Ramadan.

“We should not allow any intruders to create chaos in our country,” Al-Asheikh said. “We should all serve as a strong fort to defend our faith, its wealth and leadership against anyone who dares to attack the Kingdom.”

Al-Asheikh said all Saudis should stand united with their leadership against those who try to create division among them.

The Council of Senior Islamic Scholars in the Kingdom, meanwhile, backed the order given by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah urging authorities to adopt all necessary measures to protect the country’s security and stability.

“We praise the historic role being played by King Abdullah in confronting the challenges being faced by the Islamic world,” it added.

King Abdullah ordered all necessary measures to protect the Kingdom against potential “terrorist threats.” The king gave the order after chairing a meeting of the National Security Council to discuss the fallout of crisis in neighboring Iraq.

“Concerned for the Kingdom’s national security against any measures that terrorist organizations or any other groups might resort to, that could destabilize security of the homeland, he (the king) has ordered all necessary measures to protect the gains of the homeland and its stability, and the security of the Saudi people,” the statement said.
