Makkah-and-Madina

Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Naif approved a plan for emergency situations in Makkah and Madinah during Ramadan.

Suleiman bin Abdullah Al-Amro, director general of Civil Defense, said: “All arrangements and preparations were made to ensure the implementation of measures to cope with emergency situations during Ramadan.”
The plan will take time and geography into consideration as the number of pilgrims and visitors will increase in the two cities, especially during the last ten days of the holy month.

AL-Amro lauded the support provided by Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah and Prince Faisal bin Salman, governors of Makkah and Madinah regions, in this regard.

He said that the number of security personnel deployed in the two cities will depend on the expected increase of pilgrims and visitors this year, adding that the police will be supported with advanced vehicles and equipment, he said.

An awareness campaign will be launched delivering messages on public safety through SMS, televisions and street signs.
