Mumbai: HTC has opened up the API for developers so that they can tap into the performance and enhance the features of the two cameras (dual camera) of the HTC One M8.

Engadget reported that HTC has posted the DSK for the dual camera API on the developer blog so that the developers can use the code and design apps for the camera and tap additional features.

This means that apps can now be designed specifically for the M8’s cameras. The new apps can now include the DualLens and DimensionPlus APIs baked right into it. Developers will be able to get their hands on bokeh-style refocusing and multi-angled shot selection and also add depth from the pair of cameras since the dual lens system allows for a parallax view.

A series of apps which will be feature-rich and designed to tap the complete power of HTC’s dual camera system could be here soon.
