American Idol may return to ABC after show cancellation.

:: Not so long after American Idol came to an end, rumor has it that it may return on ABC during the 2017-2018 TV season.

According to USA today, the ABC network and the Idol producer FremantleMedia have been discussing this matter but an agreement has not yet been confirmed.

ABC did not comment on the matter.

The revival rumors of Idol is not new. In February, NBC had discussed the possibility of the return of Idol, which was cancelled due to ratings drops in later seasons and an increase in production cost, when the show ended after a 15- season run.

During an NBC talk with Idol, it was said that Simon Cowell, who was a judge on Idol from 2001-2010, could return as a Judge; however, ABC raised the question if Ryan Seacrest, who hosted the show, could return as the show’s host.

Although Idol’s final season ratings is incomparable to the previous seasons, it still has a favorable stance in comparison to many shows.
