In an effort to curb the spread of shisha among visitors in Jeddah, the Haia has submitted a report on the matter to the Department of Religious Affairs at the Haia, detailing the increase in its use among men and women.

According to the report, the phenomenon has also spread to youths, potentially resulting in increase harm and negative effects to corniche visitors due to pollution.

The report also suggests the act violates Article 32 of the Basic Law, which states the state must ensure protection of the environment and prevent acts that may pollute or harm it.

The Haia pointed to directives from the Minister of Interior in 1433 AH, which called for banning shisha inside restaurants, cafés and crowded areas, as well as taking measures to prevent the phenomenon that harms the environment and public health.
