Haj service companies will be fined up to SR100,000 if they fail to inform the authorities concerned about any delay in the departure of pilgrims from the Kingdom.

The deadline for pilgrims’ departure has been set at Muharram 15.

The fine would be multiplied with the number of pilgrims overstaying their visa, the directorate general of immigration or Jawazat was quoted by local media as saying on Sunday.

The directorate has also warned such pilgrims of appropriate action, in coordination with the security department through information, fingerprints and iris scanning.

“The companies will be slapped a fine between SR25,000 and SR100,000, and the punishment will be more if they are found repeatedly violating the rule.”

Meanwhile, the departure points are witnessing a huge rush in Madinah. The Ministry of Haj’s Madinah office records show that 525,483 pilgrims have so far left by air or land routes, an online newspaper said.

More than 322,661 pilgrims have left from Prince Mohammad bin Abdul Aziz International Airport in Madinah and 35,322 through the exit points along the land routes.

The Kingdom opens various corridors of air and land routes for the pilgrims’ arrivals and departures, including the Madinah and Jeddah airports, under a centralized plan.

Mohammad Al-Bijawi, director general of the Ministry of Haj’s office in Madinah, was quoted as saying that the office continues to pursue its plans to see that the last pilgrim leaves the country as scheduled.
