Minister of Environment and Water Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahad unveiled the report at the Milan Expo.

The UAE on Thursday launched its environmental report, which aims to address challenges stemming from economic development and a growing population, the state-run news agency WAM reported.

The seven-part report, the release of which was announced by Minister of Environment and Water Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahad at an expo in the northern Italian city of Milan, discusses the UAE’s environmental standing, drawing assessments from the latest available data, the minister said.

To address hurdles posed by the country’s limited environmental resources, the report highlighted the UAE government’s policies on clean energy, green architecture and sustainable transport.

Fahad said that he believed transparency would be a step towards practical solutions for development.

The findings will serve as an important tool for policy and decision makers in the UAE’s field of sustainable development, he added.

Fahad praised ongoing efforts to achieve the UAE’s sustainable development goals in various fields, through which the Gulf state hopes to rank among the world’s best countries by 2021.
