Makkah welcomes King Salman

A large crowd of people turned up for the big reception organized by Makkan residents in honor of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman on Sunday night. A variety of cultural programs attended by 900 young men, including folk dancers, were held to add color to the ceremony.

King Salman received a model of the Holy Kaaba’s door as a gift from Abdul Rahman Faqeeh, a prominent businessman. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, deputy premier and minister of interior, and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, second deputy premier and minister of defense, also received similar gifts.

Earlier, the king accompanied by Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, toured an exhibition highlighting the history of Makkah and its progress. He also toured the traditional Makkah markets.

The reception was held along the Makkah-Jeddah Highway. Rashid Al-Sharief, Saleh bin Abdullah Kamel and Haifa bint Jamal Allail spoke expressing the happiness of Makkans over the royal visit. The people of Makkah used the opportunity to renew their allegiance to the king, crown prince and deputy crown prince.
