A surgical team in Najran has successfully performed major surgery to remove shrapnel from the chest of a patient who was hit near the southern border.

According to an official from the Ministry of Health, shrapnel was found in a man who was hit during a skirmish between Border Guards and Houthi rebels.

Following the clinical examination when the patient was admitted to the emergency department of King Khaled Hospital in Najran, it was revealed that the patient needed urgent surgery.

The surgery was performed under the direct supervision of Field Commander Hamad Al-Harthy, a specialist in advanced medicine at the southern border.

Other members of the surgical team included Dr. Hani Baroom, a consultant in emergency medicine and disaster at National Guard Hospital, Dr. Mohammad Azam, a consultant in emergency and injuries at the National Guard Hospital, Dr. Jalal Aisy, a consultant in accidents and injuries at the University of Imam Muhammad bin Saud Hospital, and Dr. Arif Rwaili, consultant for accidents and injuries at the University of Imam Muhammad bin Saud Hospital.

The Health Ministry unveiled a comprehensive emergency health plan in the southern part of the Kingdom near the Yemen border. According to the scheme, integrated teams comprising medics and paramedics were formed to provide emergency treatment.

According to the official, the health facilities in the southern border are fully equipped with the staff and equipment to handle any emergencies.
