Defense Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman, chief of the royal court, presided over a meeting of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs in Riyadh on Monday and discussed matters related to creating more job opportunities for citizens and protecting consumers’ rights.

The council listened to a presentation by Labor Minister Adel Fakeih on his ministry’s initiatives to Saudize jobs in the private sector and drive out illegal foreign workers who violate the Kingdom’s residency and labor rules.

Fakeih also spoke about some of the new programs developed by his ministry in light of the council’s directions, an official statement said.

Commerce and Industry Minister Tawfiq Al-Rabiah also gave a presentation on his ministry’s endeavors to develop and reorganize the business and industrial sector and protect the rights of consumers.

Al-Rabiah highlighted his ministry’s efforts to upgrade trade and industrial rules and regulations, strengthen the Kingdom’s competitiveness in international markets and increase the contribution of small and medium enterprises to the country’s gross domestic product.

“The council adopted a number of resolutions on the basis of the two presentations,” the statement said.
