Prince Miteb rewards boy for saving sisters from fire

National Guard Minister Prince Miteb bin Abdullah has rewarded a boy for his bravery to risk his life while saving his sisters from a fire that had broken out in their living room, in Al-Qriyat.

The prince has also bore all the expenses in his treatment in the burns unit in King Abdulaziz Medical City in the National Guard besides rewarding Rayan Mousa Al-Balawi with an amount of SR100,000.

Al-Balawi, who is recovering from his burn injuries, said he and his family are overjoyed with the generous response from Prince Miteb.

The director of Al-Qriyat Education Department, Mohammad bin Abdullah Al-Thubaiti, has also congratulated the boy’s father for his son’s bravery when he moved a burning heater away from his sisters and saved them. Al-Thubaiti hopes that the boy will recover soon and will be able to go back to school.

The director gave him a token gift as well, an iPad, when visited Rayan with the director of Education Information, Ali Al-Atshan, and the director of public relations, Abdulaziz Al-Mulhim.

The Saudi Society for Child Welfare used the event to call on families to watch their children and to take necessary measures to ensure their safety. It thanked the boy for saving his family, cited it as an example of proper child rearing and education.

All citizens and officials should honor Rayan and his family for this heroic act, the society said, adding the child is the source of pride and appreciation for society’s members.
