Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdulaziz, deputy premier and minister of defense, presides over the Cabinet meeting in Jeddah, Monday.

The Cabinet on Monday approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation between health ministries of the Kingdom and France signed last December.

The MoU envisages boosting cooperation in various fields of health, including prevention and treatment of infectious and non-infectious diseases, exchange of experience and expertise and holding training programs. The weekly session of the Council of Ministers was chaired by Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdulaziz, deputy premier and minister of defense.

Minister of Culture and Information Abdulaziz Khoja said that the MoU calls for enhancing cooperation in different areas of health such as the visiting doctor program, holding technical training courses for the Saudi health ministry staff, and cooperation in the field of prevention and treatment of infectious, non-infectious and emerging contagious diseases. The two sides, according to the agreement, will exchange experiences, information and outcome of researches in the fields of health. French medical institutions will also facilitate treatment of Saudi patients.

Earlier, Crown Prince Salman briefed the Cabinet on the outcome of his recent visit to France, which resulted in further bolstering the bonds of friendship, enhancing bilateral relations and seeking close cooperation between the two countries.

The Cabinet also approved the air navigation agreement between the Kingdom and the United States signed in May 2013. According to the agreement, each party shall give the other a right to fly over its territory without landing on it, as well as the right to stop in its territory for non-traffic purposes and the right to fly for transport purposes.

The Cabinet thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah for his keenness in ensuring the Kingdom’s security and stability through launching the first phase of the border security program named after him. “This embodies the King’s concern and support for all sectors and their development by making use of the latest technologies in order to intensify the efforts to serve and protect the homeland,” the Cabinet said.

Reviewing the decisions taken by the Cairo meeting of the Arab League foreign ministers, the Cabinet backed the firm Arab position to take necessary measures to maintain Arab security, as well as to confront all terrorist and extremist organizations, including the so-called ‘Islamic State’ outfit, besides fighting to prevent its spread in the region.
