Officials at Al-Rajhi mosque in Makkah have accepted 2,000 applications for Itikaf (seclusion and staying in the mosque with the intention of worshiping and becoming closer to Allah) during the last 10 days of Ramadan.

The total number of meals provided for worshipers at the mosque till date has reached 126,000.

Shuja’a Al-Matrafi, an official at the mosque, said that each approved Itikaf worshiper will be given an ID carrying his name and identification number. Each worshiper will also have a locker to put his clothes and personal belongings in.

Worshipers will also be offered free iftar meals, dinner and suhoor inside the food court. They will be provided with blanket and mattresses, a toothbrush and religious books.

Also, the mosque is providing 2,200 iftar meals and over 600 boxes of water daily to the faithful to break their fast, Al-Matrafi said.
