Malaysian students were among some thousands of students hailing from different countries around the world who have successfully graduated from the Islamic University of Madinah Al-Munawwarah (IUM) in its 50th graduation ceremony held recently.

Mohammed Khalid A. Razak, consul general of Malaysia in Jeddah, was chief guest in the traditional ceremony where awards were presented to graduates and post graduates of the Islamic University in Madinah and Umm Al Qura University in Makkah.

Speaking on the occasion, Razak said that the Malaysian graduates are among 160 foreign students of various countries who have been given the golden opportunity to study at IUM.

Since IUM’s inception 50 years ago, Malaysia has produced nearly 500 graduates in various fields such as the Shari’ah, the Holy Qur’an (textual studies of the Holy Book); Da’wah and Usul Al-Din (propagation and theology), Hadith (Islamic traditions) and the Arabic language from IUM.

At the recent IUM convocation, he said four Malaysian students received the Dean Awards for their excellent achievements in MA studies by the university. “We are proud that the graduates with a good command of Arabic and excellent Islamic knowledge will return to their country and serve in important areas of development and fields,” he said.

Razak further expressed his thanks and appreciation to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, Crown Prince Salman and Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman and the management of IUM for their strong support and assistance to the Malaysian students studying in the Islamic University of Madinah Al-Munawarah.
