Gifted Saudi students won medals at the 26th International Inventions and Innovations Exhibition (ITEX2015) in Kuala Lumpur on May 21-23.

Also this month, another group of Saudis picked up eight awards for scientific research at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2015) in the United States.

The event in Malaysia, with 12,300 participants, is the leading forum for inventors to showcase new creations, the latest technologies and products. Saudi Arabia won seven gold medals, three silver and two bronze.

Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal said that such an achievement confirms the clear vision of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman in encouraging an innovative spirit among Saudi youth.

He noted that King Salman stresses the need to invest in Saudi human capital.

The thrust of his policy, implemented through the Mawhiba program, seeks to raise the country to the place that it deserves in the world and propel it into the ranks of knowledge communities.

He pointed out that this achievement was the result of concerted efforts and fruitful cooperation with the Ministry of Education in collaboration with Mawhiba, which seeks to honor and represent the Kingdom in international forums.

The governor congratulated the parents, teachers and schools for their creativity and intellectual capital and for giving opportunities to a knowledge-based creative community.

The scientific team, which won seven gold medals, includes Haneen Faisal Al-Subaie (Makkah), Ranim Mohammad Al-Anzi (Riyadh) and Haya Salah Al-Abdullatif (Eastern Province).

Other gold medal winners were Ammar bin Abdul Razak Amir and Barra bin Abdul Razak Amir for their joint venture (Eastern Province); Ghasham bin Ibrahim Al-Faris (Riyadh) and Ali bin Mohammed Al-Haddad (Eastern Province).

Abdul Rahman bin Saad Al-Assaf (Madinah) was also recognized.

The winners of silver medals were Wafa Dahlawi, Fattoon Fakeih, Mohammed Mashi, Omar Barakati. Bronze winners were Ruqayya Al-Owaid and Nora Al-Owaid.
